Hope someone can help - this is an old story. One writer wrote about Ezra being badly burned in a fire, I think in the stables but I can't remember. This is OW. Then a second writer did a followup story, and the part I remember is Ezra and Chris (this is not slash) out on the trail and having to overnight at a cave. I believe the 2 you're looking for are 'Legacy of fire' & 'Ashes of the mind' by Carla. I have a copy of both. If you'd like a copy just send me your email.

"Legacy of Fire" is on both All-Ezra and on Cairdean. com's Magnificent Seven FanFiction Archive. The author at All-Ezra is Carla Rodriguez.

"Ashes of the Mind" is online at ashesofthemind. tripod. com. It's authored by the Smarm Sluts. Does anyone know if Carla Rodriguez was a member of that group?

There's a working link to Ashes on BlackRaptor's Ezra page, found by clicking on his portrait icon on the right-hand column of the main page. The link to Legacy is broken.

The link to "Legacy of Fire" at the All-Ezra site is no good. I should have tested it before I posted - sorry. The story was available last night at the M7FFA. Try www.cairdean. com/magnific/index. html. the site's quicksearch links for both title and author worked fine for me just now.

The "Ashes" post on Tripod has a few quirks on the later chapters (odd column width, missing links to the next page), but they all opened for me.

And yes, the note on the last page says Carla was a member of the group.

The only Ashes of the Mind I found was an ATF fic about an asylum, featuring Vin and Ezra. I'll keep looking.

Okay, I was wrong - the fic I found isn't an ATF one. It's the sequel you're looking for. Call me brain dead. Sigh. Anyway, here's the link.

I think you are looking for Fire Bug by Kelly A and its sequel Fire in the Night by TrekkieB. Both are at All Ezra.

You know, you are absolutely correct! But the other recs gave me even more reading so double hooray! Fire Bug and Fire in the Night are two old favs and I'm so happy to revisit them - thanks to you. MAC
