Could it be, "By a Thread" by Kim Maddox? Chris and Ezra just returned from Colombia and Chris gets quite ill and nearly dies...

Maybe it's "By a Thread" from Kim Maddox? That one's gen, and can be reached through All-Ezra or BlackRaptor.

Third time to try and post this--for some reason, this site doesn't like me!

I think this story might be "By a Thread" by Kim Maddox. The story can be found on Blackraptor. I'd leave a link but this site hates me and won't allow me to do this!
