Part of #1 is KSL's Learning to Improvise, but no female teacher is ever hired in the story

thank you if this is not it i will just have to keep looking :) . what i do remember is that the female teacher does not stay the kids drive her out of town.

Yes there is...in the last Chapter (Chapter 7). She's not an active character, though, but near the very end of the story there's mention of tricks the kids play on the teacher to get her to leave because they want Ezra back as their teacher--he teaches more variety subjects and makes learning fun.
