Another year, another Big Bang! \o/

This year there are some changes as to how the bang will be run. I hope everyone will find the changes easier in the long run.

The mag7bigbang Goal:To write a Magnificent Seven story 15,000 words or over. Stories will be accompanied by either artwork or a fanmix. (I would like to guarantee artwork or a fanmix for all ( Read more... )

If I undesrtood correctly, the artists will have from December, 11 to December, 30 to make the art? I'm afraid it might be not enough, considering December is a month of holiday fests all over metafandom, and, at least for myself, December is a month of deadlines at work:(.

Actually, thank you for pointing that out. I was playing around with the dates, seeing what worked. Will fix that immediately.

EDIT: And changed! I hope that works out better, if not, then I'm not sure what else I can do.

I've read this twice and I keep getting distracted so my apologies if I missed it, but is it limited to OW or is it open to any AU?

It is open for all AUs and has been for the last one as well - I myself have created banners and book cover for grachonok's ATF story (see her icon above).

Cool - thanks! I may want to do something in one of my own AUs (Fission, perhaps).

And the FAQ has been updated to reflect that AU's and the such are allowed! Sorry about that, it was kind of early in the morning when I posted all of this. O.o

I could do a different idea entirely, but can I do an AU/universe cross? (Okay, mostly I want a supernatural old west and the quick study way would be crossing with Superatural's Old West. On the other hand, if it's not allowed, I've got nothing written and can completely scratch that a write a non-crossing piece. But if I could, no crossover characters, just universe play.)

From last year's FAQ:

Are crossovers allowed?
Yep, crossovers are allowed. But the story must center around a character from this fandom. For example, if you have a crossover between this show and White Collar - your story cannot be about Neal Caffrey and how he meets a con artist named Ezra, but the other way around.

So the answer to your question is yes, just as long as the focus is on the Mag7 characters. Since you plan to do a fusion, go right ahead. :)

Awesome! It's all about Josiah and Ezra and Maude, with a side of Vin and Nathan and the rest of the guys, so this is going to be an absolute blast!

Excellent! I would just advise you not to reveal too much of the story at this point; leave the description as enticement for an artist that may decide to work on the story. :)

If I sign up with a WIP, how much of my word count needs to be new?

Reply

valiha July 10 2011, 16:52:47 UTC
Well, I think participating with WIPs depends more on whether it's been posted anywhere or not. I will let sparrowsverse answer the question on the actual word count, but I can tell you the following from last year's FAQ:

Can I enter an unfinished story that I've been posting in my journal?
No. Everything you enter has to have been written specifically for this challenge. You cannot post any parts of your story anywhere else before this round is over.

And as advised above,

You cannot submit a story that has already been posted complete elsewhere. If you have not!ficced or comment ficced part of a story and want to continue writing it, then please email: mag7bigbang@gmail.com with details, and we'll talk it over with you.

No worries there. It's actually the story I was *going* to do last year for the Big Bang, so yeah... hasn't been posted anywhere.

I think I remember that one! You had to default for some reason, correct?

I was thinking about signing up for artist and I was just wondering, once the story and artwork is posted on the writer's journal and been up for a while. Would it be alright to re-post the artwork on my own journal with a link to the story?

Definately! In fact, when the story goes up, post that link!

You just can't crosspost the artwork anywhere until all the stories have been posted and the bigbang is done.
