I've been experimenting...

Some time ago I scanned some of my old drawings.  They have been sitting in one of my picture folders ever since.  The other day I came across it and  found one of the pictures that I had experimented with in my ACDSee photo program.  I couldn't remember how I'd done it, so I did a bit more experimentation.  I eventually found it - via filter/ ( Read more... )

That's "sheet metal" effect? That's very cool-looking!

The colour ones look more like satin ribbon to me!

They *are* a lot like things made of ribbon - or made of worked satin.

Banjo looks like a figurine sitting in a satin box!

I was scrolling through again and saw the last one was "fur", not "sheet metal". You're right, that's a great evvect. I think it looks a rose striving to survive in a rain of soot of blackened blood. That makes it sound like I think it's gross, but I think it's beautiful. But very evocative of a dozen moods and scenarios. These effects have wonderful potential for illustrating texts.

That's a different way of looking of it, and I can see what you mean!

To me, it looks like a (literally) dusty rose!

Like a rose thriving in the dry season, a sign of hope. There I go again, making it into an illustration, rather than letting it be itself.

You know, I can see it as something you could find on the cover of a book!

These are fantastic! Not to mention surreally mesmeric. The Sydney memorial especially!

Thank you!

I was really amazed at the effects I could make with these pictures.

The Sydney memorial consists of over 400 seagulls representing every man that died on the HMAS Sydney during World War II. This one turned out really well!

Woah, Maewyn - those pictures effects are really stunning!
Many of them (especially the flower ones) remind me of a sort of embroidery. Very lovely.
And help!! The praying mantis looks all the more like an alien in blue! ;-)

Yes! That's exactly what I thought when I saw the effect of the first one (the drawing). It looks like it's been satin-stitched. Then I thought I'd see what another one looked like... Once I got started, I couldn't stop!

Yes, it's a big, blue, bug-eyed alien! \ö/ :)

Hi Este! I was blown away by these effects. Who'd have known the means to transform pictures like this was there all the time?!
