Now for a bit of abstract art...

I promised to post pictures that I took at the fireworks display on Friday night.  I'd set the camera on night photography, not realising that it would create time exposure.  (I didn't have my glasses with me to check the quality of the pictures as I was taking them, otherwise this wouldn't have happened.)

However, I was quite amazed at the effects ( Read more... )

I really like the affect you got with these. I think getting firwork shots is really hard. You almost need one of those camera's that takes continual shots...do you know what I mean? The kind that takes a bunch of photos in a second. I think the chrysanthemums one is my favorite.

Thank you. I know what kind of camera you're talking about - they're very expensive!

I'm very pleased with my digital camera, and it takes great pictures. I just wish I'd realised what was happening. If I'd taken a few more pictures in "normal" mode, they may have been clearer. Anyway, I'm not totally disappointed with these pictures - they're different from the run-of-the mill ones!

For more pictures taken of fireworks that night, you can find them here: http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/galleries/0,21589,5010121,00.html and click on "Your Australia Day".

These are really pretty, and interesting ... in a very abstract kind of way. Fascinating to look at!

They are rather unusual, aren't they?

I didn't realise just how such little movement could make such a difference!

Wow! Those turned out magnificent, Maewyn! I really love pictures that invite one's own imagination.
Beneath the chrysanthemums I see horses stampeding, then flocking birds, blowballs, three times musical notes, some strange flying insects, a Hindu goddess and in the bottom pic I even recognise the cartoon figur of the Pink Panther. :-D (I know, I've got loads of fancifulness in me...)
Thanks for sharing!

You're right - I'd not noticed the horses until you mentioned them! And the Pink Panther - definitely. He's in "sneaking" mode!

There's nothing like imagination to make things interesting, is there? :)

I wanted to say I think these are the NEATEST photos. I think they are better than typical photos of fireworks; they are like electric works of art -- and each so different!!! Bravo!!!

I'm really quite impressed myself now! At first I was disappointed because they "didn't turn out", but on looking over them again, I changed my mind!
