Well, Australia Day's been and gone. What a day! It was scorching hot, with a maximum temperature of 41.2C.

I can imagine the fire danger - everything must be dried out and easy to catch on fire. The fireworks look marvellous, Maewyn and the sunset is especially beautiful.
I love to lie in bed and hear the thunder and see the flashes of lightning.

It was still hot inside last night when I went to bed. We'd had the air conditioner on in the living room and it was still warm, but comfortable. When I went into the bedroom it was noticeably warmer. Curious, I took the thermometer and put it on the bedside table. Just after midnight it was 34C!
I'd locked the window open (about 10 cm), and the overhead fan ran all night. When I got up this morning (amazingly enough I slept well!), it was still 32C in the bedroom.
As I mentioned above, it's forecast to be 40C again today, but cooling down throught the week. Thank goodness we don't have continuous heatwaves. It would really wear me down!
