I'm posting from my folks' place, as I am sitting with my Dad for a few hours while he recovers from surgery. It wasn't anything major, but my Mom and I were both a little worried as he's not a great patient at the best of times and ever since his stroke, he has an even more difficult time of it ( Read more... )

I'm feeling for you. I am in a very similar situation. Both my parents are still working, my dad is 70, my mum 68. Wow, that freaked me saying their ages. My dad suffers a little too often from gout as well. And just yesterday morning, I was thinking again, do I want kids? Soon, it's going to be too late anyway!

I hope your dad recovers well. x

Aww love, I know exactly how you feel. I'm sorry that I have not seen this sooner as I would have surely written right away. It's a very terrifying feeling and really made me think that my life is not nearly organised enough for me to take care of someone else. Not to mention the what you said was EXACTLY what I thought. My own thoughts are with you, your mom and dad. I hope that he is doing better. I only briefly mention this to my mom (with the specification that she not go ahead and disseminate this to everyone and their mother, and I do trust that she won't) and she wants to make sure that I gave you all her best regards. She tried calling you guys before when she was in Canada over the holidays, but she now understands why she could not reach you. Her thoughts are with you. Love, I just realised that I do not have your phone number. Can you email me at my new addy (the gmail account)

Hugs!

He's really ok. It was not an intense surgery...it was just my irrational (or perhaps perfectly rational) fears making me edgy. He has recovered ok, and seems to be taking it easy, which is the best thing he can be doing. He should be back in New York today, actually.

I don't think I have your new e-mail address bookmarked. Can you resend?
