LJ FAIL: news update.

There's been an update on news.

This is a good start, but it's still not enough for me.

  • I still want to be able to opt-out of crossposting altogether for my own journal, and the communities I manage on LJ. Not just in Friends-Only entries, but in public posts too. Why should LJ make it easier for other people to crosspost from my journal? I would ( Read more... )

    I think if those folks aren't as concerned about their privacy or about clarifying the boundaries of different services, that's their own lookout. Other people are likely to feel very differently.

    LJ should be offering opt-ins if they make big changes to the service, because then the people who don't care so much about privacy can go ahead and subscribe to the crossposting, while the folks who do care will be able to go on feeling secure. I don't think any of this needs to be divisive. It's LJ's cack-handed implementation of changes that has lead to all of this.
