looks like this is the week of ask-my-friendslist-for-advice posts.  sorry for not posting something more interesting!

my partner's car just broke down on the side of the road today.  the mechanic says the timing belt broke and her engine is an interference engine, which essentially means that to fix it would be about $1500.  has anyone else had

Those are very expensive to fix, but call around? If it is a newer car, especially, it will cost more. :(
