Meta in embryo, or something ...

This isn't meta, really. It's not coherent enough to be that, and I'm not entirely sure that it has a point. It's just that Remember the Titans made various things go 'click' in my brain. I had been dealing with this by running over to poor ash48's journal and squeaking at her a lot, but it occurs to me that if I'm going to speculate wildly I should ( Read more... )

Entertaining thoughts, will be interesting to if your speculation holds through to the end of the season!

Thank you!

And, well, probably not - but it was fun to put together, anyway. :)

Thanks for this. Earlier in the season I noticed that we were getting a lot of god references and I wondered if that was a theme. But I didn't think to tie Greek mythology into the thread so when the God references faded away, I lost the idea. Now, at least someone is thinking like I was. I'm going to look for the Greek mythology parallels from here on out.

I don't know if it means anything. And - yeah, I admit I got distracted for a fair chunk of the season with, well, issues I was having with the story. But it's interesting to look at the earlier episodes now in light of themes they might have been developing.

Wow, interesting. My knowledge of Greek mythology is fairly limited, so I wouldn't have been able to make all those connections myself, but it's fascinating to think that this kind of thread spins through the season as a somewhat unifying theme.

My childhood obsession finally comes in handy! :)

Well, maybe not as it's entirely possible that I'm making too much of the allusions. I do think there's something going on here, though.

I'd say "marries brain*, but I'm sure I did that ages ago.

An awesome connection through all the episodes. And whether they are actually thinking along these lines it makes for fascinating reading. Though I think there's definitely connections being made between Sam and Dean and mythical Gods.

Or maybe Sam and Dean have just reached mythical God status to me...;) (though I'm sure in the SPN 'verse God Sam and God Dean will be talked about in years to come...;D)

Thanks for sharing the thinky (and I look forward to seeing how the next eps tie in with this idea...)

Thanks. :)

I mean, yeah, I could be completely wrong about this. And I'm sure at least some of this stuff is incidental. But ... I mean, the Golem had the whole 'strongman' thing going on too. It looks like they're leading somewhere.

And - ha! Yeah, I'll also admit to a certain starry-eyed fangirlishness about all this. I'm interested to see where it goes. But at the moment I'm pretty thrilled with it all, because it's allowing me to look at the first half of the season with a lot more glee than I did the first time through.
