I know you probably didn't intend that to be funny, but I laughed out loud because it's so true. I hadn't realized it until you pointed it out.
I see the humour. I spend most of the episode just boggling at John, because I don't think he has any idea how he sounds. :)
I mean Sam ends up following in John's footsteps with a revenge quest of his own and he vocalizes understanding John more afterwards in The Song Remains the Same but it's always nice to see the similarities in the little details.
Thanks. I enjoy the knack they sometimes have of creating character parallels with little references and similar imagery. When it works it's very clever. And the bit in My Bloody Valentine is just this ... nugget of pure horror that stunned me the first time I saw it, because it makes John and Mary's story so much darker.
