Last night, as I was talking to my Mum on the phone and wandering around Target, she discovered that Sugar, the German Shepard/Golden Retriever mutt that we've had for about 14 years, was basically paralyzed from the neck down and had probably been that way all day

So sorry for you, Maekala. It sounds like you absolutely made the right decision for her, as crushingly hard as that decision can be. You probably saw some of the stories I shared with paraka recently, so I'll skip them. Just in general though- many of us have been there and we all send our deepest sympathies/ empathies (and hugs).
Hold dear all the great thoughts and wonderful memories from a long life well-lived with you. It is good that you were able to be with her at the end. She is at peace.
