My original plan for this weekend, which fell apart nearly at the last moment, was to head to Northern Virginia to (among other things) watch a massive reenactment of the First Battle of Bull Run commemorating the battle's 150th anniversary, complete with several thousand reenactors, one of whom is my friend Allen. Yes I am, and yes I do! Or more accurately, I watch it as it comes out on DVD since I intentionally have neither broadcast TV nor a home Internet connection--though that latter is almost certainly going to change within the next few weeks.

Wow. I deliberately don't have wifi so I can't hook my netbook up at home (except for a Very Short Cable for downloading virus protection since I do use it with wifi when I'm away from home), but I do have very basic cable and an internet connection at home.

I don't think I could be quite that disconnected, esp. since I freelance as my day job and don't have a work connection as such.

I've got a connection at work, so I'm (obviously) not totally devoid of one. But TV at home was too distracting.
