The Ongoing E-Book Discussion In My Head: Distinct Possibilities

It occurred to me earlier this week that I might have the perfect book to experiment with in the process of learning and sizing up the e-book trade: One that I hadn't actually intended to publish. Not because I thought it was unpublishable--in fact everything in the book would already be published--but because I didn't think there would be a market

The editing thing has been my bete noire, too. All the self-publishing gurus keep saying, "and be sure to have it professionally edited," but then they never take the next step and tell you how to find a good independent developmental editor.

I think I could probably find one through recommendations, though it might take me a bit longer to scrape together the money to pay for the service. :)

I have the opposite issue. I could scrape up the money, but I'm not going to do it for someone who doesn't come personally recommended, and I don't know anyone who could give me that sort of recommendation.
