Thing is, it seems to have been activated (it's not tattooed or anything, which is why the WTF strikes now) but the key has been deemed invalid and now I'm worried if it's downloading updates properly or not.

I say call the guy and try to force him to see if he can fix it? I'm not much of a computer expert, so I have almost zero expertise in thie area. Best I can do is to hope everything works out okay and well, dish out virtual hugs. *hugs*

Your repairman's a weird one. Why use a pirated copy when your original's available? Chronic need to use pirated versions? Incredulous disbelief at a Malaysian owning a proper, legit version? @_@
