4 am in the morning is not a good time to realise your good-for-nothing computer repairman has gypped you and your computer has a pirated version of XP, when you KNOW you started off with a genuine copy. Not that I couldn't have forseen something like this, but I started off authenticated*string of exclamation marks here*I am NOT feeling the love, ( Read more... )

O_________O ACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK. Is there any way you could complain and drag him back to rectify it? Get some proof, stuff it in his face and tell him if he doesn't reinstall the original, heads will roll?

If I were you, I'd probably react similiarly; screaming my head off. Hope there's some way around this.

*waves original install disc* I could reinstall it again, but I'm not quite sure what would get lost along the way or not.

Thing is, it seems to have been activated (it's not tattooed or anything, which is why the WTF strikes now) but the key has been deemed invalid and now I'm worried if it's downloading updates properly or not.

Crap, I knew I forgot about something. Reinstalling clears out everything, right? *headkeyboards*

I say call the guy and try to force him to see if he can fix it? I'm not much of a computer expert, so I have almost zero expertise in thie area. Best I can do is to hope everything works out okay and well, dish out virtual hugs. *hugs*

Not the best person to help you with this, but hopefully you can burn all that's important and re-install the original copy? I don't think it will download/install updates properly, but I'm not sure. For all we know, it might just be that irritating little notice and nothing more.

Your repairman's a weird one. Why use a pirated copy when your original's available? Chronic need to use pirated versions? Incredulous disbelief at a Malaysian owning a proper, legit version? @_@
