I don't know world of Warcraft, but this was very sweet! Poor star-crossed lovers.

World of Warcraft is usually what I do when I'm too brain-dead to do anything actually creative, but then I was playing with my new Death Knight character and there's this starter quest where they're all under the villains control and Thassarian is going all "We're all unfeeling tools of the Lich King. But go save Koltira because he's special to me!", which of course set my slasher sense tingling. Even after they rejoin the forces of good and end up on different sides, they still have a close relationship. And Thassarian was the one that killed Koltira in the first place, which appeals to my twistedness, I guess.

And then canon gives us this, and I was pretty much wanting to kick Thassarian for not asking Koltira to come with him, because then they wouldn't be at war with each other and they could go off and spend all eternity working out how undead gay sex works.

Stupid obsessions taking over my brain like that. XD

Glad you liked it! I love this pair a lot, though I find Thassarian very hard to write. But the idea came to me and didn't want to go away until I'd finished writing, so I went with the flow.

This is super adorable. I love how well you conveyed the forlornness, the coldness, of being a freed Death Knight, and especially a freed Death Knight in love... it's so sweet and so sad at the same time. Excellent-well done!

Thank you! I'm not very much for the fluff, so pairs like these two call to me. I'm fascinated at how their bond seems so strong despite the pretty horrible situation they're in. On the other hand, I don't think love comes easy to a Death Knight. Everything is a battle for them, the poor things.

I know, they're so tragic! I only recently created a DK, and playing through the starting quests these guys grabbed my attention right away. I mean, even under the Lich King's power, when supposedly you only care about Doing His Bidding and you hear his voice in your head all day, they obviously had feelings for each other. Then it was so heart-breaking to see them go their separate ways once they were free! And I think you've painted a really accurate picture of what their relationship would be like... it's wonderful that they can enjoy little moments like this, but it's still so very sad.

Yeah, Thassarian's little "We're uncaring tools of the Lich King, now go save my Koltira because he's special!" speech made me decide to keep an eye on those two. The way they part ways in the manga is pretty damn frustrating, because you get the feeling that Koltira was just hoping Thassarian would ask him to elope come with him. And then they end up on the gun ships, in the middle of an aerial battle that means nothing to them, since they both want the Lich King dead and don't seem to care one way or another about the factions. Must be frustrating as hell. No wonder Koltira is so angry and Thassarian just seems resigned.

And of course, there's Koltira's little "There are only two things in life that interest me..." speech in one of his later quests, and though we know one is revenge on the Lich King, the other... Well, I have my theories. *nods*

Awesome. I love these two, and they deserve a good cuddle after maiming and killing things, before they're stuck dealing with the morons in Icecrown. Very nice.

They are, without a doubt, my favourite WoW pair. I have a lot of other pairings I adore, too, but these two are on the top of the list. And they deserve some time alone together, with all the mess they have to deal with in Northrend. I'd say they deserve to be happy, but I think they need some time to actually remember what it's like being happy first.

Thank you! I'm going through an obsession with this pair right now, and their dynamic is a lot of fun to write.
