I plunked down a little over $200 to get started. Base price $99 for the phone plus all the little activation fees and taxes and whatnot, and then I got the heaviest-duty case they sell and the insurance plan, for I am a klutz.
Per month it's going to run me about $75: $30 for the data plan, $40 for the 450 minute rate plan (which is the cheapest) and $5 for text messaging. Then there's taxes, but I also have an employee discount, so I think that'll about cancel out.
It's worth it to me because of the three-hour-per-day commute. I probably wouldn't spring for it otherwise.
