Well, listen. I've been going through these sorts of ironic let-downs for a long time, and I don't know that I even care anymore, lol. Maybe I have come to the conclusion that not only does nothing make sense, but it is the nature of the universe to contradict me regularly with devious intent.
So, my stance is that a person should just take the plate that he/she gets, and give up thinking about what's likely behind it, because that way lies heart attack, and possibly imprisonment. Think of whatever shit comes your way as an opportunity. That billion dollar ticket is probably going to boost the economy of your area a little. Plus, there is the likelihood that you are somehow related to the person who won, but a few degrees of separation. So, there is still a chance that you can get some money out of it, by chance, by writing letters, or by robbing the winner.
I think the first law of evolution is probably, "rob the winner."
