We had a friend who used to show his van at events like this--it was his son's van and his son was murdered, so it brought him comfort to finish the work on the van and to show it. Sadly, the grief was too much for Steve, and he took his own life 2 years ago...I looked to see where the location of this video was, and I don't believe they made it out to Massachusetts, but they did show the van all over the midwest and southwest. His widow still has the van. I can't believe I haven't watched Taking Woodstock yet. Next rainy day, maybe. ;o) Thanks for the share!

I think there are two good documentaries - basically live coverage - of the Woodstock concert. "Taking Woodstock" is pretty nice, but not complete history, either. I liked it. Fun to imagine oneself in that time and place, as the concert is coming to town.

That is so sad about your friend and his son! Is there any reason why the father might have felt he was somehow to blame for his son's death? That's pretty serious. I hope you keep in touch with the widow.

I am thinking that maybe, well of course this is probably true for a lot of people... Some people make a big deal out of their vans and cars and motorcycles, and so on, partly because, if they could, they would strive for, and succeed at, more. So, even the most flamboyant of them might feel humbled when they see or hear about people with a lot of wealth or success. Maybe there might have been a feeling a failure going on. Letting his son down. Life is so delicate.
