Many times, when I was a kid, people didn't see how aware I was.  I am sure this has been the experience of many of you.  Didn't I do a post on childhood some time back?  Yeah, so adults, especially people who know you, and most especially family, simply underestimate you, and have you in a box that is easy for them to understand.  But most kids ( Read more... )

as the youngest in a large family, by several years, i was, and am, constantly underestimated as well. doesn't sound like your younger brother had to deal with any of that though.

I loved Life is Beautiful, wonderful movie.

It is exhausting going about life from doom to doom and focusing on the negative. It isn't always easy, but it feels so much lighter to focus on the good and not be emotionally invested in the bad crap that happens. Deal with it and move on, being angry or bitter over it doesn't fix the problem and wastes energy that could be used for better things.

That's the message. Hope can get you through the worst. But it can also paint delusions.

In my situation, I record the negative stuff going on around me so I can keep my sanity, and so I can let others know how bad things can develop.

Yes, recording and acknowledging is useful, and often necessary, but wallowing is generally unproductive and damaging.
