End of World Pleasantries - 1

Do you still have your eclipse glasses? Go out and look at the sun again! There is a big visible cluster of sun spots lurking there. A tiny blotch suggesting that our great god has sinned - or is bleeding from our errant ways. I think that's the scientific term. Associated with these spots was a large solar CME, which explains why I have been ( Read more... )

Yeah, must be from all those fires going on all over the Western US and even parts of Canada. Climate change is here.

Yikes. I let my camera do the sun gazing for me, and then look at the pictures later. This makes me want to check out some of my close up shots I have on file.

I'm seriously having a lot of annoying health problems right now. I guess I should blame the sun.

Sorry about your health problems. It probably is the sun, plus eclairs. And Korea...

I've been so crazy ill these days.

Your camera does catch some of the orange-red. But you probably mean you want to check for sunspots. (If you stare at the sun your ill eventually see lots of spots, lol...) I'd say good luck on that, but I am thinking your camera won't catch them, judging from some past photos. Nothing personal, and you even referred to this insufficiency - maybe when you photographed that candle. But it would be great if you found some spots.

There has been smoke in the sky here before, from western fires. But nothing has ever turned the sun this amazing orange-red colour, esp. so high in the sky - and also allowing me to look at it straight on. When you said that a red ray of light shone through your window, I know it was the same kind of ash/dust.

True those shots are too bright. Maybe if I dig out my proper filters and try again I could get something... I'm still kicking myself for forgetting to bring my filters along during the eclipse.
