I've seen a few spots of ant swarming already this year, but not much. It usually doesn't start in full earnestness until mid next month. Then I'm constantly encountering spots on the sidewalk that look like big splotches of dark moss until I realize that it's moving. It's creepy and fun to watch.

I wish E.O Wilson was still alive so he could comment on this srtrange swarming behaviour. It does look really odd - creepy and fun indeed
