Excellent work.

I'm not on Tumblr but I follow a number of them, so I wanted to give you my thumbs-up about your essay regarding your decision to truncate this chapter. As a writer myself I know how painful that can be - but also how very much better the whole story becomes.

One of my writing teachers taught me this one, over 20 years ago: The words on the paper/screen are not the story - they're the manuscript. The story is what takes place in the reader's head while s/he reads the words. And sometimes you have to destroy the manuscript so that the story can be told correctly.

The story was told correctly here. Everything you wanted to catch us up on was done perfectly in this interview format.

Thanks so much. The original plan was to have a straight narrative chapter AND this transcript. When the other chapter was killed, this one took on both roles, and it was all better for it. I may cannibalize some bits from the dead chapter for future one-shots.

Don't forget to read the epilogue! :-)

Heh, The Ivy. My brother lives just around the corner from it and there are ALWAYS paparazzi camped out at the entrance.

This chapter made me giddy. On to the epilogue! :D

Complete??? Now that I'm on vacation at the other end of the world and the family wont give me a minute for reading? That is so cruel! Swears to herself to make time and show antisocial tendencies towards her family ASAP.

Before I race off to read the next part, I just have to say, this was brilliant, and I really wanted to watch it on YouTube! LOL Think we could convince Martin and Benedict to act it out for us?
