you aren't a nerd. you are a smart shopper.

my family saves enough just on gas to pay for our membership.

I do love sam's.

It's looking like just trash bags are enough to justify it! That's kind of amazing.

Wow, yeah... I've never tallied up this kind of thing at Sam's club because I don't pay for my membership there. My mom pays her company's membership yearly and there are about 20 of us in the family who have memberships to Sam's. I buy gas there a lot because you do save a significant amount.

Ya know what else though? Prescriptions are cheap there - BUT their pharmacy staff is so knowledgeable there about helping their clients that they will refer you to the local discount pharmacy if they believe your prescription would be even cheaper there. That's for good customer service, they lost a customer at their pharmacy but you're already a member so they know you're going to be coming back anyway.

of impressing everyone with our deveil-may-care spending and pricey stuff, we must console ourselves with revels in our savvy saving... for me it's Costco, and I keep a list of prices and compare with other retailers. Milk can be $1 less, and I buy 6 gallons a week!

I totally agree that strict discipline in keeping to the list is necessary

congrats on your savings!

Maybe I'm consoling myself for having bought the Keurig coffeemaker. Although I did get it super cheap!

I noted that they did have K-cups for the Keurig at Sam's but they only had one flavor, and they had 80-cup boxes! So you'd better be pretty darn sure you reeeeeeally like that flavor. :-)

I have a Costco membership and save enough on gas and garbage bags to pay for annual membership. The rest of the stuff is just bonus savings.
