I had a moment of proudliness last night. Hey, I just made up a word. So I had a lot of things to do, some freelance work, some cooking, had an IM chat with a writer friend. I had planned to do a Couch to 5K run. I'm up to Week 3, Day 3...my last scheduled Week 3 workout before moving on to Week 4. It had gotten to be about 9:30 and that "in ( Read more... )

Hey Lori, this is completely unrelated to your post but I seem to remember you saying you had just discovered and liked Vampire Weekend in one of your recent posts? I really like this band called Los Campesinos! and thought you might like them if you haven't already heard of them; they're similar but not *too* similar if you know what I mean.

p.s. small update on the Stephen King progress: suprisingly The Shining is my favourite so far, it really drew me in. Liked the idea of Misery more than lots of the writing (he does have a tendency to go on sometimes doesn't he?) but overall good, but I wasn't too keen on Bag of Bones. I've taken a bit of a break from him at the moment though, due to an inability to walk past Waterstones and not into it!

C25K is awesome. Each time you get through the next step, you feel so incredibly accomplished. Running continues to be like that, and I think that's how I fell in love with it. Nothing like actually seeing progress to keep you going.

I've found that depending on the time of day, running feels more challenging or not. Early mornings are best for me, because the sun is really up yet and I don't have a full belly. Midday is worst for me, because it's generally hotter and I've had a meal. Evenings are kind of in between -- there's still lingering heat, but not as bad since the sun is going down... and I've had multiple meals by then.

Keep up the great work!
