So I finally saw "Sherlock Holmes." It was awesome like a profoundly awesome thing. It was awesome in every way there is to be awesome. I loved and adored it. After the criticism I'd heard about how Holmes and Watson were just sooooo not true to character, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were much closer to their book characters ( Read more... )

Ahhh wasn't it amazing? I LOVED Sherlock Holmes, but then again.... two sexy actors in a REAL guy friend love relationship? I almost wet my pants I was so happy over it.

The only part about Juno I like is the girl who has the permanent stink eye. ahaha.

Sherlock Holmes made me so happy! I loved it. Holmes and Watson are pure awesome. I agree about the criticisms. The characterisations etc. were a lot closer to the books.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were much closer to their book characters than I expected. I've said it before but the popular image of them is diluted from years of BBC productions that were proper and high-falutin. The book versions of them were not like that, in fact they were a lot more like these movie versions.

Exaaactly. It's even mentioned several times in the books that Holmes is a good boxer and knows some martial arts techniques. And they just stressed the standoffish eccentricity aspect of his character a lot more than other adaptations have. Really they did very little with the character that was straying that far from canon.

And God, what an awesome, badass Watson JL is. I haven't even heard any negative opinions about this portrayal of him myself.
