Winter fun and games and axes

My, the Olympics are entertaining. Even ONTD is awash with posts about whether Sean White is attractive or not (I vote yes, incidentally), how Evan Lysacek wants to be like James Bond (he's buying an Aston Martin, and he even has a Russian nemesis!) and how sibling ice-dancing pairs avoid the OMGICK factor when doing sexified ice dances like the ( Read more... )

I have never seen anything that could be seen as IRL BAWWWW-ing and wankery until the Russian reaction to the figure skating debacle. The fact that Putin is getting in on the deal makes it all the more lol-worthy, I think. Did you know the Russians gave Plushenko a Platinum medal because of this? It's better than the best butthurt you could ever find on the internets ( ... )

Let's not forget that Plushenko front loaded his program with jumps.... before the 2:15 mark that gives you a 10% point increase for every jump after. I don't think he did a jump after that point... Evan did like 3. And it's not like he can't. He had a foot injury from doing a quad that's still bothering him... the reason why he didn't do it. He skated better with a foot injury. Pleshenko is just a sore loser because he based his entire program on the quad. And lost.

I'm so aggravated by the whole situation. Evan won fair and square. Stop bitching, haters.

Yes he did. He did a whole set of jumps right after the 2:15 mark, all in a row, timed exactly to get the bonus. The new system seems to value footwork more and the quad less than the previous system, and that's fair because that's the sport, but it's also totally valid to disagree that the scoring system *should* place those values that way, and to think that a quad should be worth significantly more than a triple axel or triple lutz.

I agree about the figure skating.

BUT ALSO ABOUT TARGET'S JEWELRY. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has noticed and that it's not just me. The past year or so I have looked for stuff there and I used to find tons of necklaces I *wanted* and now there are none.
