HWTF posting update
All right, y'all. For anybody who still gives a shit...
I will be posting what exists of the next chapter of HWTF plus the story-end summary in one week. That's March 24.
I'm saying this now because some of you might want to...you know, re-read. Lord knows I had to. If you start with chapter 9 that'll cover most of the plot.
I have been alternately sympathized with and ripped to shreds over my inability to finish this story. I understand both viewpoints. But don't ever doubt that I wanted to finish this story properly. I'm just...done. I'm done with HP. I'm over it. I've moved on. And I can't help that.
Don't ever doubt as well that I've been on the other side of the desk plenty of times. Waiting for updates that never come. But see, I've always just regarded that as part of the risk of reading fanfiction. You start a WIP, it might never be finished. Same when you start writing one. You pays your money and you takes your chances. But I'm hedging my bets...from now on, nothing I write will be posted until it's finished. I've already started this practice and the sense of liberation is pretty amazing. The ability to go back and edit early chapters, even adding whole subplots, is pretty amazing, too.
I've written 12 pieces of novel-length fanfiction in my career. I have left one unfinished. I can't beat myself up too badly about that track record. But I'm not happy that it was HWTF, one of my favorite pieces of my own writing, that had to be the red-headed stepchild.
