I am SO glad I was "spoiled" for The Mist, because there was no call to have it end like it did, and I'm glad I didn't spend any time/anticipation on a horrible ending. :\ Was the ending their shot at modernity? Really.

TWBB......well, i feel the opposite way, i will be buying the dvd so i can soak it all in good! I keep having this discussion with my husband; Plainview DID love his boy, every time somebody brought up the accident he got pissed (like those railroad guys) Eli knew this and exploited that weakness........ That kid that played the son, not an actor, it worked, like a little grown-up......
There Will Be Blood was one of those films where I was sat there in the cinema thinking "this is a great movie, but it's not quite as great as they think it is."
I think Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor but there were times when I could feel the 'For Your Consideration' tag although it wasn't on screen. Times where it was just too much reaching for something - plaudits, applause and such.
I was also expecting much more from Eli Sunday, and I'm not sure what it was, but I didn't get it.
That abrupt jump in time was also rather jarring, because I wanted to know what had happened in the intervening years, particularly to Eli. Still, I guess it was DDL's film...
One of the best in an ultimately lacklustre year, perhaps. Great, but not one a person can fall in love with.
