I Do-Not-Heart Huckabee

Man. This No-LJ-at-work thing sucks. I have to stockpile all my scattered thoughts to post when I get home.

---

Driving to work this morning, I saw five car accidents in a four-mile span of highway where there are rarely accidents. What are the odds? I actually started worrying that something catastrophic had happened in the world and people ( Read more... )

do I vote for the candidate I really support, or do I vote for the candidate I think has the best chance of defeating the Republican candidate?
That is EXACTLY my conflict. Judging from the very low votes on the somewhat less popular Democrat candidates, it seems like a whole lot of people are going for the latter and voting for Obama.

Well, in Iowa, you don't have a choice. If your candidate doesn't get to the 15% threshold, you have to choose again. Kucinich told his supports to vote for Obama if they had to.

Oh, see... I really actually like Obama.

So I guess I'm in the Obama and not the Other camp. :|

I love Obama, he's just not my first choice. He's definitely my first choice among the realistic candidates.

You've voiced the same in conflict my co-workers and I talk about with this election. For us, of course, the results of Super Tuesday may render that choice moot. (We vote on Feb. 9th. Why they didnt just move it up 4 days so we could be in on the fun, I don't know)

I figured out why they didn't move the primary up to the 5th - that's Mardi Gras. In Louisiana, we take our politics seriously, but we take our parties even more seriously.

Oh and also, I said almost the same thing RE: people who might win the Republican nomination... I almost hope it's Romney because the country will not elect a Mormon candidate over... other candidates.

Of course the country might not nominate a woman or a black dude or a populist, either.

But I hope that would be a first choice.

And maybe that's really... a bad thought to have, but it was the first thing that came to mind. What can I say, the reporting in the Vancouver Sun, while optimistic for Democrats, is not exactly top-notch.

I can't believe there isn't more press coverage about Huckabee's involvement in the release of that convicted rapist who went on to rape and murder two more women. The Huffington Post blew the story wide open - even publishing Huck's letter to the parole board asking them to reverse their decision and release him - but I didn't see any other news or blog site pick up the story.

It's gotta be the worst scandal any presidential candidate's been invloved in since I've been voting.
