Wilco report

So I'm looking at the new Star Trek: The Next Generation Complete Series boxed set to see how much Amazon is selling it for even though I'm SO not buying it yet ($297.99, if you care). What's interesting is that the customer reviews are scathing. Some are bitching about the lack of extras which, frankly, is not remotely a surprise so I think is ( Read more... )

One reviewer made the point that eventually either a) the price will go down or b) it'll be reissued on HD so it'd be better to wait.
Is the source material HD-quality? Because if it isn't, I don't know how that could happen.

Yeah, I thought about that, too. I doubt that it is, although it could certainly be remastered to be better, it couldn't be that good.

huzzah Andrew Bird! I am completely in love with him. did he take his shoes off to work the foot pedal? he's so sassy like that.

his recorded stuff is intricate and gorgeous although, like you suspect, not as much like his live stuff. less reliance on his massive talent, more reliance on his strong songwriting. (not a bad tradeoff.) Armchair Apocrypha is a perfect album, especially Spare-Ohs.

You, woman, are inherently dangerous. I downloaded a copy of Wilco's album Sky Blue Sky to see what they were about. This is great stuff, I have to admit. Thanks for the recommendation!

"Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is about ten times better, I'd recommend downloading that one, too. Also, download the track "How to Fight Loneliness". It's my favorite Wilco song.

Ah the memories...I have always loved the buzz of live gigs. A few that come to mind- my first never-to-be-forgotten - David Bowie in 1973(?)doing Ziggy Stardust. Alice Cooper when 'schools out' was in the charts the first time, Bob Marley shortly before he died, the Stranglers in the student union with about six other people, Blondie, The Eagles 1975, missed Dylan in '78 altho' I had a ticket 'cause I was in Glasgow and he was in London and it was a holiday weekend - no available transport- Status Quo too many times *blushes*, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, The Who (1975), Roxy Music ('80's), the later clubbing years, Moby, Orbital,The Shamen (classic no. 1 UK hit Ebeneezer Goode- chorus - e's er good, e's er Good, he's Ebeneezer Goode ...
