Eventually I'll get around to reading your travel post. There's so much for me to read on lj these days that I haven't made it quite that far yet.

"Heroes" was quite the awesomeness last night, I agree. Although I really was disturbed by the fact that everyone was so double-crossing in this future. It's unnerving to see so many good characters go bad. Hiro will have to use that knowledge to make them stay good in his reality. :)

I like the idea of collecting fridge magnets, I do the same with keyrings, I have them from all over the place, museums and such like too. I also started picking up the odd pinbadge.

You're right it is cheap and it keeps a record of where you've been that you can see without pulling out photographs.

The college student in me has started collecting shot glasses from my travels...but you're right, there are so many places I've been that I didn't get one from! When I have kids they are definitely going to collect something from every place they go. I wish my parents made me do that from when I was little. (Although, much like you, we never really went anywhere besides to visit family...and I don't know how many different varieties of Janesville shot glasses there are ( ... )

My bro-in-law's grandmother did that. Family would send her wacky magnets from anywhere they went. When she died, she had over 1000! Her fridge was completely covered plus she took cookie sheets, flipped them over and hung them on the wall so she could put more magnets on display. She was a crazy lady.

You could list places you've already been, with a request that anyone who lives in/near that area pick one up if they feel so inclined, and you'll write for them/paypal/offer some other form of small repayment in exchange.

My husband collects shot glasses of places he's travelled, plus a few extra for places his friends have travelled (and brought back glasses for him).
