Weekend, new boots, books and cooking

I had a pretty good weekend. Saturday started out slow but in the (gorgeous) afternoon I took my brand-new winter hiking boots out for their maiden voyage and introduced them to their natural habitat, in this case Highbanks Metropark.

Those are your new Keen boots, right? One thing I noticed about my Keens is they don't have very generous leg openings. Mine are tight too. :/ Otherwise they make a pretty amazing boot.

Yep, they're the Keen Delta. I've only ever had low-topped Keens before so this was a new thing for me. They weren't super tight and I expect them to loosen up some as I break them in.

I was very befuddled by how quickly the story wrapped up after the climactic moment. She'd earned a little more denouement than she gave herself. Pacing issues. Good to know even pros have them.

The denouement of BEL CANTO was also very rushed and, IMO, basically short and pat. That book definitely deserved more denouement.

I recommend trying coconut flour for protein-y cookies, but be warned! It takes A LOT more liquid. Find a good recipe. I can try to hunt down my links to some if you would like?
