The not being able to read during take-off and landing is a HUGE drawback to having the Kindle. I encountered this on my flights to and from China this summer and was bummed.

However, the flipside was that I was able to load up on a full month of light reading and not take up much space, which was awesome for the long flights and down-time I experienced while abroad.

Hey, there's always the in-flight magazine, right? Ha. But if there's a LOT of flying, bringing along a slim paperback isn't a bad idea, in addition to the Kindle for the long haul.

I'll admit I have done that for a couple of books, bought the hardcover (earlier) and then bought the Kindle version. The 2 I've done that for are favorites and I wanted both versions.

The beauty of a Kindle is that I can buy the hardcover, and then if I'm out of town and find that I want the Kindle version...hey presto, I can have it in thirty seconds. TECHNOLOGY.

Or, you read great reviews for a book, and think "I gotta have that right now", and you can! Did that yesterday when Amazon advertised a $1.99 special on Twitter.

You are making me question my own decision. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to miss those holes on my shelves in a few years ( ... )

Actually, with a big 6 publisher, the royalties are such that King will make much more off the hardcover sale than the e-book unless the book is discounted by 50% or more.

I totally, totally don't believe that our tech devices have the slightest effects on a plane's equipment. I think it's the dumbest thing about flying.

Dude, buy the Kindle version!

Also, hey, you write books I can purchase? How have I been reading your fanfic for 8 years without knowing this?!? Do you have an Amazon page or anything I can look through?
