That sounds like a crazy ass trail. (I'm not hiking, but doing Couch 2 5K on the trails by my house.)

Bummer. Sounds kind of like the hike I did on a sprained ankle down into Talulah Gorge in North Carolia oh, about 15 years ago or so. It's a mile almost straight down (literally, climbing over rocks and sliding on your butt), then two miles back out, because you have to basically climb these little switchbacks all the way up. There was an awesome sliding rock at the bottom of the gorge which was great, though! Had to climb up from that with a rope. I'd love to try it again
