In which Sophie ponders consequences of a newfound magical gift

[Private - medium hackability]

How curious. I seem to have some sort of magical gift. I mean...I suppose I knew before...but the eldest daughter of three never has magical abilities. I mean, Martha is far more suited to that sort of thing, but it sounds like Lettie is the one learning magic now and... But it explains a lot. The costumes, how ( Read more... )

tea does not solve everything, haberdashery, chosen family, magic frying pan, i'm a tailor not a..., oops, winding way, costumes, uh-oh, tea solves everything, mortifying embarrassment

...Really? Did you enchant things like my hat from my birthday last year and all the stuff you've fixed that weren't costumes?

I...hm, yes, I may have enchanted your hat. Have you noticed anything strange while wearing it?

Not really. I mean, I get a lot more compliments but maybe that's just because I don't usually wear hats.

Ah. Well, yes, it might have gotten enchanted. I don't know how I can tell, but I can try. And try and fix it if it's troublesome.

[[ooc: I like how you have both the 'tea does not solve everything' and the 'tea solves everything' tags on this XD]]

I'm sure you wouldn't enchant anything in a troublesome way, Miss Sophie! Especially if you're talking about what Miss Haruhi made that post about before - that definitely sounded like the good sort of magic.

[[ooc: Both are applicable when Sophie is suitably confused XD ]]

Ah, yes, Miss Haruhi was talking about all that.

I suppose so, but I can only imagine the sort of trouble any of those things could have caused someone unsuspecting...

I took magic lessons when I was younger, but I don't think I can help you.

Oh, well, that's alright Ness. I wouldn't want to trouble you overmuch. I'm sure I can bumble through it on my own, a bit.

Oh, dear... well, thank you for the warning, at least! I'm sure a few enchanted costumes can't be too much trouble, right?

You know, I don't have any proper magic myself, but it's almost comforting to know there's some magic on board! Ever since I first joined the gypsy carnival, it seems like most of my friends are mages or clowns...

I hope not, but then Mr. Hughes seemed to be quite worried about a few of them.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call myself a proper mage, or anything of the sort. After all, I think a proper mage would know what on Reial they're doing when they enchant something, and not by accident at that.

Oh? What was he worried about?

I don't see why not. I mean, everyone has to start somewhere, right? I'm sure every wizard turned themselves into a toad by mistake at some point!

Something Haruhi said about a...Pirate ninja robot costume? Theoretical, I believe, but I think it unnerved him.

Yes, though I hope I don't make quite that bad of a mistake to begin with.

I -thought- I smelled magic around those clothes... I just assumed it was on purpose.

Oh? Oh dear, you should have said something. I haven't enchanted anything of yours by mistake, have I?
