tired. hands and wrists profoundly dislike me... typing with one boinging finger. but after three flops there are three more bowls in the world now. still very very behind. partially because of cracks and flying cylinders in the pre-bisque, tooling, handle-attachment phase. still have teapot, bottle, and relief to do... wish i could just make ( Read more... ) -

I love how I can spend seven straight days at the studio (maybe it's been more than seven straight days, maybe it's been fourteen... something like that), and still feel as if I'm behind and done lots of not much ( Read more... ) -

We opened the gas kiln up today and my fifteen pieces with varying degrees of unhappiness came out (Unfortunately only one or two might be what is on the syllabus for my class). It's always exciting to open the kiln-- like Christmas. Some of the potters are really talented. There are always exhilarating happy discoveries as well as some ( Read more... ) -

However, fetching things out of the freshly opened bisque kiln is neat-- they're warm! -

Glazed fourteen wannabe pots-- most were mistakes and warped and I kind of wish that I hadn't bothered with deciding that they were salvageable off of the wheel because I ended up spending five hours on my feet going through glazing them all today. sigh. -

Studio time is very good...
I tossed cylinders that made it to six inches tall!!! It only took me a number of days, one shattered cylinder, several that lost their bottoms or had very skinny bottoms, and such... -
Worse not better?
So last week I was able to toss a few little pot/bowl/mug sort of thingies until I heard that I was supposed to be tossing cylinders instead. So since then I've been trying cylinders 6 inches high. So far I've destroyed a few cylinder attempts (in this case, a few means about 12), and I'm getting scared that somehow I managed to get myself ( Read more... ) -
