Character Information
General
Canon Source:Avengers: the Initiative
Canon Format:Comics
Character's Name: Trauma (Terrance Ward)
Character's Age: Approx. 18
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A
What form will your character's NV take? A netbook computer. It's the kind that's screen can flip over. It's black. It's got the fun little T and red eyes symbol on the back. That is also the perpetual wallpaper as it doesn't seem to have a way to change the background, much to Trauma’s annoyance.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:Trauma can read and manifest someone’s worse fear. As Secretary Gyrich says, he is the "Holy Grail" of powers, a mutant who can read minds and shape change, though both only relate to fear. He can tell what it is, state it and turn into the closest manifestation of their worst fear, physically becoming it. His control is semi faulty, changing simply by being around someone who’s fear is strong enough. His eyes glow red when he changes. The other fun thing about these changes is when he is in that form he has the powers of that person/thing…he showed up as Thor at one point and the Juggernaut at another. Though he hasn’t shown it yet in the point I’m taking him from, he apparently can’t be killed. He gets a knife like arm shoved through his chest and wakes up a few days later in the coffin during the time when his friends come to pay last respects. After he’s had an autopsy and all that fun death preparation stuff. And he’s also half demon…but SHHHHHH he doesn’t know that yet. :/
Weapons: If you call a pair of combat boots weapons than I guess those count? But other than that? The kids got a power and is otherwise SOL.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:Trauma had a really decent home life originally (If you don’t count the fact that at one point his mother apparently had an affair with the demon Nightmare to father Trauma…but that is beside the point and not information Terry has anyway.) He was your average high school kid with your average high school issues…Also known as emo kid got bullied like in most stories. The difference is that during on case of his getting bullied by the resident school jerks (Which, frankly he brought on himself by asking one of the girls out…but that is neither here nor there.), his powers kicked in and he successively showed every fear of all of those bullies to the crowd. His friend, Rachel, pulled him out of this mess and dragged him somewhere to talk, only to have him accidentally show her fear of falling back into her drug abuse habit and killing herself. He never returned to school after that.
This new power began to take a toll on his family pretty quickly, the first person that fell victim was his mother who was institutionalized due to the fact that she went absolutely batshit insane. After this, Terry came to the conclusion that he had to keep people away from him for fear they’d get hurt, and made something of a hermit of himself. Sometime after this, during a conversation with his father about possibly leaving to join other mutants and train at camp Hammond, Trauma found out that his father’s worse fear was that he might find it in himself to kill Terry.
Shortly thereafter Trauma joined the Initiative program, partly to try and gain some control over his powerful and terrifying ability, and partly to get away from his family before a bad situation became much worse. Unfortunately it wasn’t very long into the program when an accident occurred.
During a training run Trauma, who’s exercise required another trainee Armory to follow him so he could change, transformed into a giant spider in mimicking Armory’s worst fear, in a panic she attacked the spider, her attack going wild and both taking off fellow trainee Komodo’s arm (She got better, it re-grew =D ) and blasting a hole in another trainee MVP’s head (he didn’t D =). Trauma and the rest of the students and staff who saw the tragedy were simply told the event didn’t happen by secretary Gyrich, and that none of the information would leave the room.
The event caused Armory to be kicked out of the Initiative, and for a small section of the students (only the main characters) to be forced to keep a secret about the death of MVP. Trauma for instance blatantly lies to the other students about it at the end of the first comic, and none of the others who were present say anything to the contrary.
During training a while later, he and the other recruits end up talking leading to Cloud 9 accidentally projecting her fear about the death of MVP. Since they were all under high stress and actually trying to run at the time, Trauma was out of focus and his power accidentally activated.
The other trainees and staff tried to stop him, partly because one of the staff present wasn’t one of the people in the know about MVP’s death and had actually been asking where he was. Hank Pym was the person to get a hold of him after he managed to pull himself back in control, only to be yelled at about using his powers. Instead of calming the situation, this made things worse, as in anger and an attempt to point out about what a loss of control could and that it wasn’t his fault and that Cloud 9’s fear had been too strong, Trauma changed into Pym’s worst fear. Pym’s was about his own loss of control, about beating Janet years ago and that that mistake was all people saw in him. (Ignore the fact that this is Skrull Pym. Trauma doesn’t know that either...shhhhhhhh)
Hearing about the incident, secretary Gyrich asked to see Trauma about his two times of “messing with his shit”. Trauma expected to be kicked out of the program, (even commenting when he was taken to another area he had never been to that “This is where I get shot isn’t it”) instead he was told he would be taught to control them.
Unfortunately? This has not happened yet due to the fact that I am pulling him from right then.
Point in Canon: Right before meeting Danielle, in the lower level of the Initiative with Gyrich.
Character Personality:Trauma is your average teenage emo kid. Or so you would think. Originally he wasn’t quite as closed off or hard to deal with, but it became a very big necessity once his powers became active and out of control to keep people away. The words 'normal seventeen year old boy with an attitude problem' should clue you in to something of what he was like before this happened. He worked well with his friends, was pretty good with his family surprisingly. His fallout with them and guilt about that actually has a lot to do with his issues about distancing from people in general and the sense that people just eventually wont be able to deal with him. He had more of a sense of recklessness and impulsiveness, trying something and not really thinking about how to do the damage control later.
Recently, Trauma tends to be more on the quiet side, mainly due to the fact that he seems to not be fond of interacting with people who are scared of him or angry or yelling at him, which is most of the people he’s had dealings with as of late. He’s very private about things that actually have any weight or importance to him, though he’s very willing to think, act, and speak for himself. Part of this being traditional teenage attitude and part of it knowing people already have an opinion on him and voicing whatever he thinks probably wont change it, at least as far as he’s concerned. His more positive reactions (in fact the first time we see him smile at all in the series) are not really interacting with people, but watching them. He tends to be a little removed from most situations anymore and when he does interact it’s fairly ill tempered.
Trauma has something of your usual issues with authority beyond the normal level, simply because he knows even what the authority figures are afraid of and wont put up with them putting him through the ringer for things he can’t control. He’s a kid who keeps not being able to fit in, even with other mutants at the moment, because of his powers and isn’t happy with that or very willing to give people much of a chance He’s also shown that as a defensive or anger reaction he will use his powers because he’s freaked out or pissed off and have little to no remorse about it.
He has the potential to be one of the best therapists on the planet, through helping people overcome their fears and he’s been shown telling people off when they cross lines for themselves. Such as basically yelling at Abby for nearly killing someone when he knows her fear is what kind of person she’s turning into. He also reacts very well when people have given him reason to believe they wont freak out on him. Trauma also shows himself to actually be very willing to help and listen to people when given a nudge in the right direction.
Character Plans: The second Trauma finds out there is experimenting on powers? He’s probably going to hightail his way to see if they can use him. Cause he wants his GONE, and if he has to be in another crazy world to do it he wont care.

First Person Sample
[A very very unhappy looking young man is in camera view, he’s managed to get the thing on, and he’ s glaring down at the keyboard instead of at the actual camera.]
What the fuck Gyrich. If you were going to strand me somewhe- [He catches the fact that the camera is on and makes a sound that’s something like a mix between a growl and a really heavy, put upon, sigh]
…Okay. I want to- Would someone-
[He sits back, putting his hands over his face and then a moment later crossing his arms over his chest.]
…What the hell is going on?
Third Person Sample
It was not the first time that incredibly weird shit had happened to him. Not the third.
Probably not even the tenth.
But he’d not yet woken up in the middle of a field, alone, and without Alex to blame for it. And that had been only the once. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what was going on, failing, and then trying to backtrack….He still didn’t have a good idea of what the fuck had happened.
First option was, Gyrich had decided to pitch him from the program, for ‘messing with his shit” or whatever the hell he wanted to call it, and had sent him somewhere. That somewhere would probably be nice and cozy in a grave next to MVP, that crazy prison thing until he was useful again, or….well…somewhere not a baseball field. Considering that he had all of his crazy, conspiracy filled memories still intact, no one had gone MIB on him and erased everything and the likelihood that this was somehow Initiative related was dropping by the second. Especially after his first little walk around.
“Just….Fucking great.” He grumbled, picking at the edge of grass beside him and simply not bothering to move any farther after the realization that there were people, this was a place he did not know, and worst of all, everything still worked. Powers were a-o-fucking-kay. He’d nearly shifted on some guy who’d run into him, standing there staring at everything from at the street corner like an idiot. He’d simply gone back, sat down, and tried to figure everything out. Which led him to the one possible idea that he did not want to have.
So far, he’d escaped all the Avengers, X men, mutant whatever crazy ass timeline and dimension fuck ups, though he’d only had the powers for over a year and much much less time. So, with his luck, it probably was to be expected that eventually he’d end up in deep shit in some other place.
Instead of getting up to deal with it, Trauma laid back in the dirt, and threw an arm over his eyes. He’d get up in a minute. Probably. But wallowing in a little self-pity seemed like a really good idea, right at the moment.
