This is a bad idea.

My company is hosting a charity ball at the end of the month. All acquaintances of staff are welcome to attend as long as they're willing to pay the $120 fee for the tickets.

In short, anyone in the complex who can afford to attend is invited. With one exception. With two exceptions.Further details are being kept from me ( Read more... )

the elusive moment of clarity, it's a three ring circus, or we could just sit around and glare, my demons have a date with me, i'm free if that bitch dies, & here... we... go

It's for charity. The non-existent altruism will make you feel better.

I don't need to help charities in order to feel better, I am content in my selfishness, thank you~

But, I suppose I should give something back.

I'd be grateful if you could teach that degree of honesty to my colleagues.

Unnecessarily so. It's just an excuse for the wealthy to congratulate each other for being such charitable souls.

Oh, but it's nice to recognize others for their good deeds!

It isn't a good deed. It's a vulgar display of wealth in the form of massive donations.

They are entirely self-serving. The charity aspect is just collateral.

I don't think I can attend, but is there a way to donate money anyway? I would like to help in whatever way I can.

Probably.

Actually, ask Annabel. [Insert number here.] ... The PA.

You don't even know where the money is going.

And neither do I. Which is unsettling.
