Meeting the Grand Poo-bah (and a different job offer!)

It's a wonderful place. Richard says it's a good home for hippies which is true but of course there are all sorts of people there :)

My school wasn't even Catholic and I was hit for writing with my left hand.

Everybody knows that the left hand is favored by Satan - at least that's the roots of why Catholics discourage using your left hand.

Do you write with your left hand now?

I've always written with my left hand. My dad went up to the school after they hit me and threatened them with physical violence if it ever happened again, so I was safe. I know nothing about Satan being left-handed. I've been spared the idioticy of organised religion. I did have to do a holy communion, but that's because I wasn't really old enough to decide, then when it came time for that other thing called "confirmation" or something, I told them all to get f*cked because I wasn't going to swear my alliance to any organisation, especially not one that nasty.

But back to the left hand thing. One of my grand-aunts taught me to crochet with my right hand and to knit. I have batted (cricket and soft-ball) right-handed, but just because it felt easier. I mix and match and adapt as best as possible. I also eat like right handed people do, with my knife in my right hand, but if I'm preparing meals, like cutting vegetables and such, I hold the knife in my left hand and the potato peeler too.
