dreaamer. Just a little bit a fun. A fluffy Ten II/Rose fic will be coming up soon.
"Why are we in America?" Rose asked, running a hand through her hair as she pouted. "And in Washington, DC? I mean, why couldn't it be New York or something?"
John rolled his eyes. "This is an incredibly historical place! Monuments and inaugurations...things remembered for hundreds and thousands of years to come."
Rose raised an eyebrow and folded her arms. She then sniffed, and turned around. "Chips!"
"Fries. French fries," John corrected. "Americans are rather strange. I mean, the potatoes aren't even from France."
"I want some," Rose stated as she wandered over to a diner. "I feel like we haven't had any in forever! That plane ride was ridiculously long."
John nodded in agreement. "Felt like an eternity compared to the way we used to travel."
Rose smiled and took John's hand in hers. "Well, let's have some chips. And then you can show me all the historical places you're dying to go to."
"Right-o."
They wandered into the diner and went to the front. The line was rather long, but the chips smelled very good and Rose was desperate for some food.
"Zeeeeeeeeevvvvvaaaaaaa...I need caffeine..."
Rose turned around in line and saw two women come into the diner. Both were striking: the one who spoke was incredibly tall, and was dressed in black from head to toe, her jet black hair in high ponytails. The one following her was somewhat shorter, wearing cargo pants and her brown hair long and wavy.
"I thought you quit," the second woman said, an obvious accent in her tone. The taller one rolled her eyes.
"Quitting is for losers. I figured I can't function without caffeine, and since Gibbs needs me at my best, I better be able to function."
Both walked up behind John and Rose, their chatter loud and continuing. "Tony said he'd take me to see Saw Four. I'm super excited," the tall one said, fiddling with one of her wrist cuffs. "You know, Ziva, you could come too."
Ziva rolled her eyes. "I will pass on that one, Abby."
Abby pouted. "But Ziva..."
"You and Tony have your fun."
Rose looked around and noticed that line wasn't moving at all. She frowned, and looked up at John. "Maybe we should leave?"
John smiled. "It's moved fine. We'll get your chips soon enough."
Abby perked up as she heard Rose and John speak. "Oh, hey, are you two from England?"
"Abby," Ziva said, her tone warning.
Abby shook her head. "Whatever." She looked back at John and Rose. "I know the line is long, but this place as the best fries. And caffeine," she added, grinning. "What brings you to the US of A?"
Ziva's frown grew deeper as she folded her arms and looked away. Rose felt incredibly awkward, but continued talking to Abby.
"Oh, you know, a trip. A honeymoon of sorts," she said, smiling, squeezing John's hand.
"That's so cool!" Abby exclaimed. "Congratulations."
"Thanks."
A beeping erupted from a phone, and Abby looked down. "Oh, crap." She opened her mobile. Any excitement died as she read the text message she had recieved.
Ziva raised her eyebrows. "Is that from Tony?"
Abby nodded. "He says that McGee broke my mass spectrometer."
Ziva's brow furrowed as a look of confusion appeared on her face. "And that is bad?"
"McGee is so dead," Abby stated, her voice deep.
John perked up. "A mass spectrometer? Really?"
Abby nodded solemnly. "Yep."
"I can fix it," John offered, and Abby's eyes widened.
"Really?" she squeaked, clutching her phone.
"Yeah," John said. "You'd just have to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow--"
"Ohmigod!" Abby exclaimed, flinging her arms around John's neck. "I love you!"
Rose shot Ziva a look, a Ziva shrugged. "She does that with everyone," she explained.
Rose nodded and folded her arms.
Eventually, after much geeking out by John and Abby and aggravated looks between Rose and Ziva, they had gotten their chips and sat down outside.
"So, where do you work?" John asked.
"NCIS," Ziva explained. "We are federal agents."
Rose gave a small smile. "Sounds intimidating."
"Not quite."
"What exactly do you do, as NCIS agents?"
Abby smirked. "We find dead people and then find the people who killed them. We catch the bad guys," she said proudly.
Rose glanced at John, who smiled back. There was once a time they did that, too.
Another chirping sound came from Ziva's pocket. She calmly dug her hand into her pocket and took out her mobile. "Gibbs?" She paused, listening. "Yes. I will be there." She hung up. "Marine found in the shipyard. We've got to go. Well...I have got to go. You can stay, Abby," she said.
John grinned as he linked his fingers with Rose's. "Mind if we tag along?"
