Nice drabbling! I've rewatched 23 on it's own and it actually stands up to scrutiny when not back to back with 22 (which was just so very satisfying). Like you say, lots of potential for a re-set and many avenues opening up if they decide Jack wants to open more doors to alternate realities. Presumably if he can open a portal to one, he could open a portal to many....

Thank you, birthday girl!!! Yes, I agree, I watched it on its own on a second watch and it views better that way I feel (12.22 is a hard act to follow in my book - I loved it!) I'm excited about all the possibilities about alternate worlds (are there more than one? Can Jack still open them? Can they save Mary? Are we going to more old character return in a warped and twisted way?) after all this is an avenue so far unexplored to its full potential. So yay, bring it on show!!!

The potential in S13 that I'm most excited for is definitely them re-figuring out how to do what they do alone again. <33 Because while SPN talks "back to basics" every year, you can't ever really go back--not REALLY really. And I'm looking forward to their jerry-rigging, as well as those moments where, as you say in the drabble, that's just not enough anymore.

I love the dead-end sense of this drabble, because I do feel like that's exactly where they're at by the end of the episode--and how could they not be? It's such a hard place to be, and a hard emotion to capture. Guh. <33333 Thank you for this!

Exactly!!! I mean they've talked this talk before, but I'm not sure how brave they are to fully implement it (are those we think are dead really staying that way?) But the idea of the boys struggling to deal with all of this on their own with no simple angel and demon fixes intrigues me, and I wonder what kind of a strain it'll have on the boys and their relationship.

They've got a chance here to really reset things, and switch things up, and I hope they do, I think it's time for a big change. I'm happy you enjoyed the drabble and it does have an abrupt feel to the ending (it wasn't really intentional, but like you say it sort of fits how we left the season!) I wanted to explore the idea of the boys going back to the beginning where they didn't have any demon and angel allies to rely on as backup, because I think that would be awesome to see, and what repercussion that will have on the boys. I have so totally loved every one of your drabbles this season, they've touched upon some wonderful insights I either hadn't thought about, or didn't know I needed to hear the answers to.
