1. When I started seeing more fanart of it (I'm shallow, I know.) Then there were a few "Malik has a sister complex" discussions that were - not quite as far-fetched as I'd originally thought.
2. Does "their challenge" really need to be stated? But besides the obvious, it's that it's so one-sided in the power dynamic. Not that I imagine either of them minds.
3. They're really great foils for each other, and proof how the same upbringing can yield different results, yet still be at the root of all sort of personality problems.
4. They're really, really messed-up people and that's even before the whole "siblings" thing gets involved. Isis makes me a bit sadder because she is a quieter form of messed-up than her HELLO I HAVE ISSUES LOOK AT THEM, SWORN ENEMY, I SHALL RUB THEM IN YOUR FACE brother.

1. It piqued my interest when I was making a list of most Marlick pairings waaaay back when I was first getting into the canon proper. But though their situation isn't quiiiite the same, Linner & Seiran sold me on it. Should I have done this meme for timeskipshipping instead2. Well, ignoring the physical challenge of "Malik goes back to Egypt and Yuugi goes to school in Japan", there's a few more obstacles. I don't know if Yuugi's friends would entirely approve, for one. The whole "I used to hate you just as much as the Pharaoh" thing is also an issue, but could turn into also a reason why they're together: Malik wants to figure Yuugi out
