"We Can't Rewind, We've Gone Too Far"

To those that don't read Perez "on the daily"

The video is besides the point, but this cover actually sounds kinda gorgeous. I love Alanis. "Jagged" is still one of my all time favorite albums, and she's actually been consistently great even though her last few albums have failed to take off commercially. I'd love to see her have another hit.

No No! Not meant to be disturbing. Funny! (My favorite part of the video is her "unabashedly bawling her eyes out" about wanting "no, no drama"). She looks good here though, well aside from the clip-on bangs and ponytail look which looks good on nobody (even Fergie)

The disturbing element here is that she's covering a song the RIAA felt was worthy of a Grammy Award this year...whereas she hasn't been nominated for, let alone won, a Grammy in almost a decade. If anything, she highlights how "great" the songwriting is here. It's worthy to note, by the way, that the only melody she uses from the actual, melody-resistant, song is the "spending all your money on me, and spending time on me bit", the rest is essentially hers.

I think she's trying to show how much of a shitty song it is lyrically.

It shows how crappy the lyrics are.

Totally, but I think it's also a parody of piano driven, angesty emo-female folk pop and objectification of women in pop music (she almost sounds like it's hurting her to sing the lyrics).

The clip has become one of those internet sensations, getting over 1.5 million hits on youtube.com on it's first day. It's the most attention Alanis has recieved in years, which is a tad, pardon the pun, "ironic".
