Faith-Based Rant

Continuing on after my Blogspot Narnia-based entry.

I am sick and tired of being the persecuted Left's whipping boy.  I am sick and tired of being accused by wounded ex-Catholics of complicity in everything the Church has ever done, from the Spanish Inquisition to making them feel bad for not helping their mothers enough.  I am sick and tired of it ( Read more... )

I followed you from a comment thread on the RxS community, mostly because I wanted to tell you how awesome your icon is, but then I saw this.

It's really good, and I think a lot of people feel the same way. I'm a fairly secular girl of Jewish background, pretty left-leaning, and I get tired when Christians (and/or Republicans) hear that, and go running for the hills. It also annoys me when my fellow Democrats are all like, "Well, Bush is stupid, because he's a redneck Republican," and then the Republican kids are all saying, "Kerry is an idiot because he's a bleeding-heart Democrat."

Both of those people annoy me equally, because regardless of what your political views, I'm obliged to be annoyed if you're spewing random crap to defend them.

Ah, so in conclusion, I agree with you, and it was very well put. ^^ (And I'm sorry if you're weirded out by random people showing up on your blog and posting theology arugments, heh. *scoots away*

I *LOVE* having random people show up on my blog and post theology arguments!! And I'm glad you like my icon - yours is quite cool too, and Kate Winslet is the most unfairly beautiful woman ever (that is Kate Winslet, right? It looks like her, but now I'm not sure ...). If you want to check out the main action, the blog I still keep up is halfthecabinetarenotasses.blogspot.com, which welcomes strangers, drifters, eccentrics, philosophers, and wanderers of all sorts.

And I agree with you about the mindless trashing. I get so sick of "random insults and polemics and talking past each other" passing for political discourse. Where's the eighteenth century when you really need it?

It's nice to see that someone else is sick and tired of many of the same things I am sick and tired of. No really!

I'd like to invite you to join the Christians and Society discussion forum. I've only read your last couple of entries, but I think you might have an interesting and stimulating contribution to make.
