Here, the fourth (of nine) judge who struck down the gay marriage ban (thus permitting gay marriage, where it hadn't been allowed before) in 2009 retained his seat on the court, in spite of a well-organized campaign pushing for his removal. I'm glad for that.

Now it remains to be seen whether the Republicans will gain the state senate. If they do (they already have the house and the governor) it would be likely that an amendment to the state constitution would be a priority.

We also need to keep an eye on Minnesota's Amendment 1. That one looked close last I checked.

Er, was. Now it's 51 no to 47 yes with 88 percent reporting. That's a good thing too.

I remember seeing that. I wasn't as wowed because I'd thought it had happened already. More likely than not I was thinking of the bunch of Reps we've had.

Still quite welcome news. =)

So what is your opinion on the vote in Puerto Rico?

I wasn't aware of it until you'd brought it up. They've been trying to get the support for it for many years. I'm surprised it passed.

Where are we gonna put our extra star? And is it a done deal, or do they more petition, then the US decides?

I guess I'm neither excited nor critical. I'll see how it plays.

I knew it was on the ballot but I was shocked by the end result. Also turn out was high in the territory. People who like the status quo are generally an older generation it is quickly becoming a choice between complete autonomy and statehood and statehood is more popular for now ( ... )
