More Mom stuff

I don't think Hospice will be coming in just yet. Mom's been talking to people, or rather people have been talking to Mom about it, telling her bad, possibly untrue things. Such as, she won' be able to see a doctor again, which I know can't be true, because, doesn't hospice have its own doctors? And that they will regulate her meds, but *I* don't ( Read more... )

Whatever your Mom decides about the hospice, I sure hope that you and J. get some respite soon! I wish your Mom could think more about you and J. and your own states of health and mind.

Hang in there. I know how very hard it is to watch someone who's so ill and my heart goes out to all of you.

I was just setting up hospice for my Mom when she passed away. All I can say was that coordinating health care on my own, struggling with the issues of medications, picking up meds, and physically coordinating care was the hardest job I had in my life and you have to remember that I have done substance abuse counseling, worked in a group home, and investigated child abuse!

Also, if we had hospice, Mom could have died at home without the intrusive tests that tormented her last conscious moments.

Another horrible thing that happened as Mom lay dying in the hospital is that one of the nurses left a bed pan under her until I realized that was what she was trying to tell me in the middle of the night. When you have your own care people in the last days, that doesn't happen.

*hugs* Hopefully when she talks to the hospice people they'll set her mind at ease. Hang in there, sweetie.
