My Trip to London to see "The Sea!"

Mar 03, 2008 09:23

WARNING:::::I apologise now that this may well be long & very boring to everyone but i am not great at re-telling things such as these :P.

So lets begin....

Rob & i left home at about 10 am, getting Charing Cross by 11:30. Its was our first trip to London from where we live (on the train) & we were surprised that it didn't even take an hour.
The weather was nice enough. Sunny , although rather chilly when you were in the shade. Still it was a good day anyway.

We went straightway to find the Theatre Royal & then (more importantly prehaps) the stage door. Which we found actually rather easily (but only because i memorized abit from other peoples pics!!)
Then it was time for lunch so we went into "Planet Hollyood " then afterwards went across to Zavvi as we wanted to pick ups some Oasis cds. After that we took a wander down Regents Street before heading back to the theatre ready for the play.

We were in row b (seats 1&2) which as anyone who has been will know you might aswell be ON THE STAGE!!LOL! I would rather think even if your seats were in Balcony you could be forgiven for thinking you could reach over & touch the stage too. Still i rather like these smaller venues , much more personal performances.

Onto the performance. Well i won't say anything about the actual play as i know there are some still to go along & see it.
For anyone who has been to see it already they will totally understand that i spent the opening scene in a state of gobsmackedness (is that a word- it is now) especially upon seeing neck , hand & ANKLE porn  & just too far gone to emit even the smallest of squees!
One thing i will say is that when Willy "hides" from Hatch i almost died when he did so as , well, i could easily have touched him & i really would have been forgiven for squeeing at that point! Again if you have been you should know the bit i mean!

Outstanding performances from both "David  Haig" & "Eileen Atkins." Aswell as the comedy moments from both  "Marcia Warren" & (god love him) "Russell Tovey!" As for "Harry" well i just enjoyed watching his facial expressions  more than anything of all. Even my hubby said he was good!!
Despite a rather, at times, bizarre plot i did enjoy the play immensly. I was rather worried that i would just watch in a confused state & only enjoy the moments when Harry appeared on stage. But it was good & i would pay to see it again even if Harry was not in it!

There was 1 point in the play when Harry stands with his back to the stage & well quite frankly i had an urge to lean over& tickle him!! It was very strong urge but i fought!
I also had the same urge to have a tug on Russells ears!!  LMAO!!

After the play we left quickly to go to the backstage door. Just aswell we did too as within moments Russell came out. I asked him for a photo & his autograph in my programme. He was lovely & obliging & had me very surprised when he said "you were sat in 2nd row weren't you!"Which tbh made my day because there are times with any actor when it looks like they are looking at you but more often than not its more a focus beyond you. I was chuffed to bits although hubby tried to ruin it by saying "yeh but thats probably because we were about the youngest people in there!" which actually wasn't true!! I told him i had enjoyed the show alot & after signing someone elses autograph book he went off.
Not long after, out come Harry. I again asked for a pic & autograph. Gotta love the lad , because even upon saying yes of course he looked terrified. I did chat abit with him , although tbh what about i can't remember. Not so much that i was squeeing inside as i just know it wasn't a very exciting conversation & as i could see he was actually really nervous i didn't keep him that long. Bless!!
We did hang around for abit longer just incase David came out but at 5 we decided to head off as i was dying for a Latte break!!

Then after a quick wander arouhnd Trafalgar Square, we decided to head home.

My verdict was brilliant It was fantastic to see Harry in the flesh upon the stage ,but to meet him aswell as Russell was just the icing upon the cake for me!

Well i hope noone is asleep now . You'll miss the photos if you are is all!!
