So in my ritual pre-island OMG I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT MODERN CONVENIENCES rattle I have, in the past 24 hours, consumed the following:

* the aforementioned Daddy's Little Girls, which I'm just going to pretend ended way before it did because it was cute and lovely that way.

* Charlie Bartlett, wherein Robert Downey Jr was. Er. NOT HIS BEST, but ( Read more... )

psych, movies

Oh Dule. How I love thee, let me count the ways.

(I think I'd pay more attention to the Shawn-and-Gus bits if he was the lead and Roday was the buddy.)

YES.

Before Psych, I had no idea he was funny, but on it, he's THE BEST.

(Hi! Can I interest you in The Middleman? There is cheesy superhero action (with REALLY BAD fight scenes), two kickass leads and Gilmore Girls-paced dialog.)

Noooo because I have been watching "The Middleman"! I've been so distracted by my other life (y'know, the one with work and shit in it) that I haven't found time to sufficiently squee.

But.

Squeeeeeee!

I'd prefer the actual father to the father figure, but I can't make it sound NOT GROSS, so there you go. (As an OUTSIDER. Not the actual daughter.)

ILU.

AHAHAH, omg, the shooting scene during the sex. I was laughing so hard, I COULDN'T SEE. Ah, Clive Owen. Bringing the sly humor to the ridiculous since 1998.

I had to pause it several times to regain my breath. It's just so INSANE. On so many levels! I mean, there were the deaths-by-carrot! And the ridiculous and gratuitous violence! And the whole thing where apparently it took place in alternate universe where BABY FORMULA doesn't exist. And then the bad horrible AWFUL double (actually pretty much single) entendres. And shooting people while having sex, but that was in the trailer so I was prepared. The carrots, NOT SO MUCH.

I'll admit the carrots kind of made the movie. I was all "...okay. So we're going THERE? Awesome."

For real, I was laughing the ENTIRE movie. And Paul Giamatti? GENIUS. Just. *cackles just thinking about it*

Indeed. Although right now I'm rewatching Penelope because I thought it was adorable.

Penelope, the movie with James McAvoy? I haven't seen it yet. Ooh, I think it'll be out on DVD here in like a week.

I didn't expect to like Shoot 'Em Up as much as I did, but I saw it because I'm a huge fan of the skinny actor who played Hertz's driver. Both my husband and I thought it was hysterical, though. The lack of baby formula! The way that it was so CLEARLY Canada and yet the plot hinged on it being America! The carrots! The amazing corner-turning bullets! Bwhahahah!

I will pretty much watch Clive Owen in anything, but... yes, it was really surprisingly entertaining. Although I feel slightly horrified admitting to this.
